Introduction by Jayson M. Brunelle
In the following “MaryCast,” Dr. Mark Miravalle, Professor of Theology and Mariology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, explains to us that in order to most effectively convey the tremendous role of the Blessed Virgin Mary to our family members and friends who may not fully or adequately appreciate the doctrinal truths regarding the Mother of God, we must first allow ourselves to enter into the “Mystery of Mary.” This, Miravalle explains, can take place through our own personal immersion in the Marian mystery by reflecting upon the intimate union of life that the Blessed Mother has with each Person of the Holy Trinity: first, She is the “masterpiece” of the Father – the single greatest work of His divine hands; second, She is the Coredemptrix and Mediatrix with the Son, participating in a wholly singular and profoundly intimate and unique fashion in the redemption of humanity with Christ, obtaining for the human family, along with Her divine Son, grace – divine life – through her association in His passion, and then acting as the distributer of those graces that She participated in the meriting of; third, She is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, so intimately united with the Third Person of the Trinity that the great and truly brilliant Marian St. Maximilian Kolbe referred to Mary as the “quasi-incarnation” of the Holy Spirit, thereby expressing the profundity of the union that exists between Mary, created Wisdom, and Her divine spouse, the Holy Spirit, Uncreated Wisdom. It is only upon our examination of the radically intimate relationship that Mary possesses with each of the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity that we, ourselves, begin to catch a glimpse of the most exalted role of the Blessed Virgin, and it is precisely then that we are capable of “sharing” the marvelous dogmatic and doctrinal “truths” concerning Mary, the New Eve, Mother of all the Spiritually Living, Mother of the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church. Let us, then, listen closely to the wise words of Dr. Miravalle as he explains to us the depths of Mary’s relationship to the Most High God.
I love this. Thank you
